joy

Okay, so....these things happen.

When someone passes away and you realize that life is short and you don't know what's going to happen when you wake up in the morning -- and believe me, I've had several of these epiphanies over the years (just read adam, i have bad news, and pro choice...no choice) -- it's good to take stock of what brings you joy.

So here's my Joy List. It's incomplete and the OCD will kick in at some point I'm sure so I'll be editing it ad nauseum but here it goes, freestyle:

  • watching the flowers come up
  • waking up on a weekend morning and realizing I don't have to go to work
  • bumping into my daughter on the street
  • looking over at Jewbacca and knowing that through all our trials and tribulations, I really love the guy
  • feeling the weight of Annie on my chest and watching her fall asleep, blissed out, content
  • checking my bank account and realizing there's more in there than I thought
  • waking up to a visit from The Dish Fairy
  • finding one last transit token in my wallet
  • the song "Ave Maria", turned up to 11
  • knowing that I live on the beach...that the lake and sand is literally 3 houses away
  • a Grande Cappuccino
  • that first sip of coffee
  • a comment from one of my bloggy friends or a newcomer
  • some kind of true crime TLC marathon
  • turkey breast and stuffing
  • okay, and mashed potatoes with gravy
  • and maybe a piece of cheesecake, too
  • one rainbow, hold the unicorn
  • getting into my car

  • going to the symphony
  • when the people I love accept me just as I am, especially when I fuck up
  • passing the pencil test ;-)
  • instantly connecting with new people and wondering "why haven't we met before?"
  • clean sheets
  • and finally, the cool side of the pillow

And you? What brings you joy? Life is fleeting. Find happiness in the small things and they'll make your world a bigger and better place.

Peace.

I am so glad I found your blog.
Wonderful stuff!
Don't stop posting. I get really bored at work.

You had me. All these things bring me joy. Funny that you like those true crime marathons. I can lose myself on a Sunday watching those. To your list I would add...the smell before rain, a dirty earthy red wine, spooning after sex, good sex, bubble baths, my daughter's smile, chocolate the crook of Mr. Peach Tart's neck.

So, let's see now, I can be a joy bringer today, by way of a comment from a newcomer. Far Out. So far so good.
But I gotta say that coyote mook there at the end is not beautiful.
Most friends call me a karma bringer.
I actually care for your tone.

one rainbow, hold the unicorn, ha!!

and I would say that I don't believe that you were ever tall and ugly, but I do. It's usually the awkward kids who turn out to be gorgeous adults and judging by your pic you must have been pretty weird looking in about the 7th grade!

aren't you glad you weren't one of those girls that peaked young, and had to show up at your high school reunion looking like a hotmess hasbeen?
